Dumped

Hey Everyone in internet-land,

This weekend i spent Saturday with Matt Capp, Clay, Brian and Kev trying to fit in the 1JZ into the MA61. Last week i managed to fit up my oil drains for the twin turbos using 22.22mm oil resistant pipe and a 2JZGTE Aristo front sump oil drain pipe bolted onto my JZX90 front sump! … The setup worked perfectly. and i clamped them up tight with worm clamps instead of the stock “jubalee” clamps which toyota seemed to think was a great idea to use in 1991?…

Adsport from WTFauto also helped make up a fitting from i believe a 7MGTE or 3SGTE oil filter screw on. Allowing the 1JZ’s annoying “water cooler Elbow” to be removed for more room in that area. My oil cooler sandwich plate and fitting now have loads of room, so in the case that the seals die on them i can access them a LOT easier than when they were connected to the elbow.

On Friday, I painted the engine bay using “Paperbark cream” paint , making the Celica seem somewhat of an Oreo 🙂

Next we had the car lifted up in the air thanks to the engine crane connected to the lower radiator support using our trusty toyota seatbelts as ropes ! As it was time to start bashing the tunnel in to fit the big R154 gearbox.

The 1JZ slid into position easy with the use of Bonnieville engine mounts and the transmission tunnel beatings.

Then we came accross an issue. The powersteering rack and steering arm coming from the firewall was in the way of the twin dumps that i had fitted to the 1JZ back in 2006 when we put it into the Z20 Soarer. These dumps are made to fit X83/X81/A70/Z20 chassis. But as we found out… Not the MA61 chassis. This means that i will need to remove the turbos and turbo manifold, and get brand new dump pipes made up to fit. Hopefully this doesnt blow my budget out the window and ill have to eat baked beans on toast for 3 weeks.

Next update i guess will be removing the turbos with bleeding fingers and temporary crushed dreams.
